Has anyone else been looking into the timeline and behavior of Johnny Lee Thornton around the time Alfred and Teresa vanished? It seems odd that Thornton had such a violent escalation in January 1977, with the murders and assault, but if he was involved with Alfred and Teresa, was there any indication of trouble before that? It really bugs me that Thornton wasn’t on anyone’s radar before the other crime, despite working on the military base. Considering how close the abandoned car was to the later crime scene, I wonder if there were any other unexplained incidents or disappearances at Fort Leonard Wood around that time that could help put more pieces together. Maybe digging into base records or military police logs could offer some insights? What do you all think? Any local historians or former residents here who remember the buzz or suspicions from back then?
I’ve always found it curious that Alfred's car was discovered locked on that secluded side road. It just doesn’t make sense to me. If they intended to run away, why leave the jacket behind given the cold weather? It feels off, especially knowing how meticulous Alfred was according to those who knew him. People don’t just leave behind something as essential as a jacket without a reason. It’s like a small detail that feels like a big clue. And the car being locked... Was that to prevent theft, or was it to intentionally leave it behind? I wonder if anyone else finds this as puzzling as I do.
