Has anyone else found it odd that despite how experienced Olief Nash was, they haven’t found even a trace of their equipment? Knowing her reputation for being prepared and self-sufficient, it's hard to believe she wouldn’t have had some emergency plan or gear. Especially since she was known to carry a chainsaw and shotgun on her trips, which aren't exactly things you'd easily lose. Is it possible that the forces at play were just too unpredictable that day or maybe the currents were stronger than any precautions she might have taken? I’m also curious about their choice to go despite the warning. I understand Olief was quite formidable, but I wonder if that might have led them into trouble. Anyone familiar with the area or similar cases?
Has anyone else noticed how intriguing the timing of this trip was? I can't help but wonder what made Ivy and Olief decide to venture out, especially with Hurricane Ivan so close. It's like they were both so confident in their abilities that the storm wasn't even on their radar as a major threat. From everything I've read, the warnings were there, even from local fishermen. I keep thinking maybe they had a specific reason for going out at that time – perhaps there was an urgency? Maybe they felt they had enough experience to handle it, or they underestimated the storm. A lot of people have talked about their experience in the wilderness, but I’m curious what others think about the decision-making process they went through before heading to the island. Why do you think they chose to go despite the imminent danger?
