I've been following Bryan Cole Thorne's case and something that's been puzzling me is the late emergence of those witnesses who finally confessed in 2004. It bothers me how they managed to stay silent for six long years. I know they were threatened by Marquez, but how could they cope with carrying such a heavy secret all that time? I can't imagine the inner turmoil of knowing what happened but keeping quiet as the entire community searched and Bryan's family went through agony not knowing. It makes me wonder if there were any signs or behavioral changes in those witnesses during those years. Did any of their friends or family notice something was off? It's just heartbreaking to think fear kept them from speaking sooner.
