I’m really intrigued by the relationship Tommy Joe Jones had with the biologists from the Moss Landing Marine Lab. It's rare to see someone so deeply embedded in the fishing industry also collaborating closely with environmentalists. Often, these two groups have opposing views, but it seems like Tommy was a bridge between the worlds. I wonder if his work with them offers any clues about his state of mind or relationships around the time of his disappearance. Did he maybe confide in any of these scientists or was there any unresolved tension we don't know about? It’s such a unique angle that might help us understand more about that period in his life.
