Has anyone looked into the history and condition of the trails in the Bartlett Cove area back in 1958? I know many trails in national parks now are well-maintained and marked, but I wonder how rugged or treacherous they might have been back then. If Mary Louise Dragoo was upset and maybe not paying full attention, it’s possible she could have veered off a less-traveled path or encountered unexpected obstacles.
Also, does anyone have any information on the weather conditions on the evening she disappeared? The weather in Alaska can be unpredictable, and it might have played a role if, say, visibility dropped quickly or if it got colder than expected. It could have added to disorientation or other potential issues during her walk.
Has anyone looked into the timeline and sequence of events before Mary Louise Dragoo went missing? It's mentioned that she had a disagreement with her husband before she left for her walk. While conflict by itself doesn't necessarily mean anything sinister, it does make me wonder about her state of mind when she left. Arguments can be emotionally taxing, and I’m curious if there's any additional context from friends or family about what the disagreement was about and how Mary was feeling that day. Also, considering they had recently moved to Alaska, could her being in a relatively new and isolated environment have played a part in her mindset or actions at the time? Curious to hear if anyone else has thoughts on this.
