I just came across the case of Guadalupe Boston from 1993, and it's been heavy on my mind. The randomness and brutality of the whole situation are so unsettling. I was reading that she wasn’t even the intended target. Can you imagine being in the wrong place at the wrong time and losing your life over it? It’s terrifying. What strikes me most is the senselessness of it all. Guadalupe was just there to visit a friend, something so ordinary and everyday. The fact that gang violence claimed her life, when she wasn't even involved, shows how indiscriminate and relentless these acts of violence are. I really hope the authorities are able to find the person responsible so that her family can find some peace. And maybe it serves as a stark reminder for communities to tackle the roots of gang violence so that no more innocent lives are lost like this. My thoughts are with Guadalupe's family and her child, and I hope they find justice.
