I've been following Anthony Powe's case for a while now, and it's both relieving and haunting to finally see justice being served. The part that really struck me about this whole situation was the role of the DNA evidence. The fact that Cardenas's DNA was left at the scene is such a small but significant factor that eventually connected him to this awful crime. It’s unsettling to think how long this case sat unresolved, and yet, a breakthrough came from something as small as a few drops of blood. The diligence of the Cold Case Squad is commendable for not giving up and continuing to seek answers. My thoughts go out to Anthony's family and friends who endured years of uncertainty, and while nothing can ever bring him back, I hope this brings some peace knowing that they finally have answers.
