I've been thinking a lot about the missing person case for Ashlin Morel. I keep seeing her photo circulating online, and it’s hard to shake the feeling that this is just too close to home. Given that so many kids have gone missing in New York this year alone, I'm wondering why Ashlin's case specifically hasn’t gained more media traction. With over 12,000 kids going missing in just 2023, I know the numbers are overwhelming, but shouldn’t that be all the more reason for heightened attention?
What I'm curious about is what roles local communities can play. Are there organized groups in Poughkeepsie or New York State in general that assist families of missing children outside of the big agencies like DCJS and the NCMEC? I feel that grassroots efforts can sometimes spotlight these cases in ways larger institutions might not be able to.
It’s been such a long time since Ashlin was last seen. If anyone has insight into community initiatives or local search efforts around Poughkeepsie, I’d love to hear about them. Every bit helps when trying to bring a missing person home.
I recently came across the case of Ashlin Morel, and what struck me was the sheer volume of missing children reported in New York State. How is it possible that in 2023, over 12,000 children went missing, and still 1,320 cases remained open by year's end? It's alarming and makes me wonder about the underlying factors contributing to this high number. Are there any ongoing initiatives or community programs in New York aiming to address this issue at its root cause? And with cases like Ashlin's still unsolved, are there specific areas or neighborhoods more affected by this disturbing trend? It would be helpful to know if there are patterns in these cases that we, as communities or individuals, could focus on to help prevent future disappearances.
