Has anyone else delved deep into the activities of Sheriff James "Humpy" Parker around the time of David Waggoner's disappearance? It honestly baffles me how someone with such an abusive history could operate unchecked for so long. The 70s were a wild time, but you'd think there'd have been more immediate outcry or intervention given the accounts documented in *Terror on Highway 59*. David's case really haunts me, especially knowing he might have just been another victim in Parker's reign. Does anyone here know if interviews or statements from Parker or his deputies exist? It's chilling to imagine what went down on that highway, especially for young guys on motorcycles or anyone who fit their 'hippie' profile. I wonder if local archives might hold more clues or witness statements that never made it public. If you're from that area or lived during that era, any insight would be invaluable.
