I just came across Freeman Mitchell's case, and my heart goes out to his family and friends who still don't have answers so many years later. It's so frustrating to see another life lost to gun violence during such a tumultuous time in Pittsburgh's history. From what I've read, it seems like the community was really struggling back then with these senseless killings, especially in neighborhoods where young African American men were disproportionately affected. It makes me wonder what kind of support systems existed—or didn't exist—for these communities at the time. Were there enough initiatives to prevent this violence, or was it just a constant cycle of tragedy? It’s incredibly disheartening to think about how the lack of solutions then could still be impacting lives today. I truly hope someone with information about Freeman’s case comes forward, so at the very least, his loved ones can get some semblance of closure. Keeping the conversation going might just be the spark needed to bring new leads in.
