I was just revisiting Kevin Kyreef Riley's case, and something that really struck me is the sense of loss his friends and family must feel. It’s painful to think about how his life was senselessly cut short when he was just 22. The more I dig into these cases, the more I wonder about the ripple effects on those left behind. Can you imagine being one of his friends, knowing that you’ll never have another laugh with him, or being his parents, always holding onto memories of him as a baby and kid, only to lose him in such a violent way? It’s moving to see how communities often gather to support each other in the face of such tragedies, and I hope Kevin's loved ones have found some semblance of peace and support from those around them. His story really exemplifies the human side of statistics that we often discuss when it comes to crime and gun violence. It’s another reason why every effort to curb this kind of senseless violence matters so greatly.
