Hey everyone,
I was reading through some old articles and realized how rough 2013 was for Philly with incidents like the tragic death of Carl Wideman. What's been sticking with me lately is thinking about Carl's family and friends. I can't imagine how they cope with not just losing someone they love so much, but also having zero closure because no suspect has been caught. We should be talking more about how families of victims navigate the aftermath of such violence when there's so little resolution. Do they have support groups in Philadelphia or advocacy initiatives that focus on families left in this terrible limbo? Does anyone know of any resources or how communities come together in situations like this?
Sometimes it feels like those left behind are forgotten in the broader conversation about solving these cases. It's really important we keep their needs in mind too. Would love to hear your thoughts or any related info!

It's truly tragic to think about Carl Wideman and the hopes that his family had for answers after his murder. It’s been over a decade, and it’s so sad to see no justice yet for him or his loved ones. The open space where he was shot always makes me wonder if someone saw something, even if it seemed insignificant at the time. Philly was such a hotspot for public shootings then, as the stats show. For a family to not have closure and for his case to be left unsolved is incredibly frustrating. We can only hope that advances in technology or a new break in the case will bring some peace to Carl’s family. Meanwhile, it reminds all of us of the longstanding issue of gun violence and the countless families who've been left without answers. If anyone out there has even a scrap of info, I hope they come forward. It's never too late to speak up.
