Has anyone else been following the community responses to Deona's case? It's just so upsetting to see how gun violence is such an issue in Pittsburgh, and her tragic death has seemed to really hit home for many people in the Brighton Heights area. I read about some local groups trying to push for neighborhood safety initiatives since her case, which is definitely encouraging, but it’s infuriating that there hasn’t been much progress in finding her shooter. What stands out to me is how this horrifying event has left Deona's five boys without their mother. I can’t even begin to imagine how hard it must be for them and her family. It's hard to grasp how someone could do something so cruel to a mother just out to get milk for her kids. These kinds of senseless acts make you wonder how safe our communities really are. I hope that someone out there who knows something comes forward. It's a small sliver of hope, but it’s all that her family and those kids have right now. It would be great if we could shine more light on this, keep her story alive in some way. That’s the least we can do.

I've been thinking a lot about the role the media plays in cases like Deona Barnett's. It's interesting how some cases get so much attention while others, like Deona's, seem to fade into the background. I wonder if more media coverage could pressure the police into making her case a higher priority, or might it lead to more tips from the public? It's incredibly sad that her story isn’t as well-known as some others. A young, vibrant mother and her unborn child lost in such a senseless and violent way should be on every news outlet until there's justice. She deserves that kind of attention. Maybe it's time for us as a community to rally and keep her story alive. I can’t imagine the pain her loved ones are in, but maybe increased awareness could finally bring the answers they've been desperately seeking. Thoughts on ways we could help amplify her story?

I was reading about Deona Barnett’s case and couldn’t help but think about her poor kids, especially the little ones she left behind. Losing a parent at such a young age is devastating, and I can’t imagine the confusion and pain those kids must be going through. Her family must be doing everything they can to keep her memory alive for them, but it’s just so unfair. I really hope the police make some headway soon. It’s frustrating to see yet another case go cold like this. It’s a stark reminder of the work that still needs to be done to tackle gun violence in the city. Praying for strength and peace for her family and hopefully some answers soon.
