Has anyone else been digging into the 1981 Frisco case of Knuth's disappearance? What's got me thinking is the location—a squatter's camp in the rugged Colorado landscape. It seems like the ideal setting for someone to vanish without a trace. With her personal items left behind, I keep wondering why there wasn't a more intensive follow-up on people who frequented that area back then.
Owen's initial confession is troubling, but retracted ones always leave me skeptical—could he have just been seeking attention, or was there a grain of truth he later wanted to hide? Knowing he was in the area when it happened doesn't help much either since there were likely plenty of drifters passing through at the time. I wonder if connecting with those who stayed or lived around that camp could yield any new leads. Anyone else have thoughts on camping spots from the 80s as a point for further investigation?
Has anyone else looked into the timelines and movements of Duane Eugene Owen around the time Karen Knuth disappeared? I find it strange that he confessed specifically about a victim matching her description. I know he retracted, but still, crimes often have patterns or consistencies that can be linked. Owen was already known for his brutal crimes in Florida; could he have been experimenting or escalating in Colorado? His proximity to the area during that time period has always made me wonder if there are other unexplored connections or even if there might be other unreported cases that fit the same MO he's never owned up to. What's everyone's take on police not being able to fully rule him out despite his retraction?
