I was browsing through some old newspaper articles and found a piece about the nearby pond that was drained in the search for Ilonka. It's really baffling to think that such a huge effort was made so early on, and yet no clues were found. I wonder if it was logical to focus so heavily on that particular area from the get-go. Did they have specific reasons to suspect the pond, or was it just a case of covering all bases? It's odd that despite such a thorough search right away, nothing turned up. Given the lack of struggle at her home, I can't help but wonder if maybe the search should have started elsewhere or with a different focus. What are everyone’s thoughts on how the search areas were prioritized back then? Were there other locations nearby that might have been overlooked initially?
