I've recently been diving into the Avis Beatrice Harris Mooney case, and something that's been gnawing at me is the letter her mother received. It just seems so odd and out of character for Avis to write such a note, given the circumstances. From what I've read, Dee, Avis's mother, was adamant that it wasn't Avis's handwriting. Considering the couple's history, it makes me wonder why the authorities didn't press harder on that lead at the time. Handwriting analysis wasn't as advanced back then, but if that letter was crafted to throw everyone off, it points to something sinister. It's curious how such a pivotal piece of evidence seems to have slipped through the cracks. Anyone else have thoughts on this? It's a chilling detail in an already perplexing case.
