I was reading about Lori Pinkus's case again today, and something that keeps nagging me is her last phone call with her mom. Lori asked her, "Mom, if I ever die, would you take care of it? Will you bury me?" That question just breaks my heart into pieces. It makes me wonder what was going through her mind at that moment. Did she sense danger looming, or was it just an expression of her struggles and fears due to her situation? It's so hauntingly poignant, thinking she called her mom with such a heavy question just before everything happened. I can't imagine the immense pain and weight that call must carry for her family, knowing that was one of their last interactions. I truly hope that with the new advances in forensic science and the public appeals by the Toronto police, someone comes forward with information. Her family deserves peace, and Lori deserves justice.
