I’ve always been struck by the eerie juxtaposition between Valérie Dalpé’s case and the École Polytechnique tragedy. It's like her story got overshadowed in the public eye due to the other horrific event. While I completely understand the immense impact that the massacre had, I feel for Valérie’s family who might have felt like public interest and police resources were stretched too thin at a time when they desperately needed answers. The attention could have really pushed her case further back then. It’s so frustrating to think that maybe the momentum was lost when it could have made a difference. I hope with advances in forensic science and public awareness, there’s still a chance for closure for her loved ones. It must be so hard living with the uncertainty for all these years.
