Did anyone else find it strange that Jan's car was found with all her personal belongings still inside? It seems unlikely she would just walk off into the wilderness, especially given her health and dependence on family. The area near Vista Drive is rugged and remote—there’s no way she'd navigate that terrain alone, right? Could she have been trying to signal for help by leaving it unlocked? Also, those unconfirmed sightings in Houghton keep bothering me—could she have been trying to reach out to someone for help or was it just another dead end? It just seems like there’s something more to the story that we’re missing. What do you guys think?
Something that puzzles me about Jan Marie Pattison's case is the location her car was found. The area was so remote and rugged – it just doesn't seem like a place you would accidentally stumble upon, especially under the influence of alcohol and medication. Was anyone else familiar with this specific area? The fact that her belongings, keys, and even smokes were left inside suggests she didn't plan on walking far or wasn't in a state of mind to think coherently about venturing into the woods. I keep circling back to those footprints leading away from the site. They could've been hers, but could they have also been someone else's helping her or, worse, coercing her? The effectively cleared companions had to have had some insight into where she might have gone. It strikes me as strange. Thoughts, anyone?
I find it curious how no trace of Jan, aside from those footprints, was ever definitively linked to her. It's peculiar that the footprints disappeared at a gravel road. Could it mean someone picked her up there? If she was disoriented, would she have been able to keep walking so far? And what about those possible sightings in Houghton? If there’s anyone out there in Michigan, especially in that area, maybe it’s worth bringing her case to attention yet again. Sometimes folks don’t even realize they saw someone back then, until a prompt like a photo or report jostles a memory loose. Anyone else think it’s time to revisit those possible sightings?
