I'm really feeling for the families of Teris King and Dashaun Green right now. It's terrifying how a night meant to celebrate birthdays in a safe space turned into such a tragedy. I read that Teris had just graduated high school, having her whole future ahead of her. It breaks my heart that she and Dashaun were taken so young and in such a senseless way. I’ve been involved in some discussions about the role of short-term rental properties in this case. While they offer convenience for gatherings and celebrations, how safe can they really be when it comes to controlling who shows up? Should we be having a bigger conversation about the oversight and security measures that these rental platforms provide, especially when large groups are involved? This isn't the first time a party at a rental property has gone wrong, and I'm concerned it won't be the last unless changes are made. I hope the community, including city officials, focuses on preventing tragedies like this in the future, but foremost, I truly hope Justice is served for King and Green. Thoughts and prayers go out to their families and friends awaiting answers.
