I can't stop thinking about how incredibly difficult this entire ordeal must have been for Joanne Donovan and her child. I mean, being told that Damien just up and left, only to later find out that he was murdered by someone he considered a partner and friend is unimaginable. Evans's manipulation, maintaining this facade for all those years, took away any chance of closure or peace for Damien's family. It’s horrifying to think that Joanne was not only grieving the presumed loss of Damien but also had to deal with Evans inserting himself into her life as a constant reminder. It's cases like this that really make me wonder about the psychological hold someone can have over others. Evans seemed to be a master of deception, and it's chilling how he lived so many lies for so long while acting like everything was normal. Truly, my heart goes out to Damien's family and to everyone left in the wake of Evans's twisted path. How do people who face such reality even begin to heal? For anyone interested, I think there’s something to be said about the way law enforcement handled the investigation once Evans started talking. The fact that they were able to uncover multiple murders based on his confessions is a testament to their perseverance and commitment to uncovering the truth, despite how hard it must have been for all involved.
