I've been following the tragic incident at Lincoln University with a heavy heart, and my thoughts are especially with Jujuan Jeffers' loved ones. I can't even begin to imagine the anguish they’re going through. While reading about the scene outside the International Cultural Center, I couldn't stop thinking about how many lives were irrevocably altered in just a few seconds. It's deeply unsettling that such a joyful celebration could turn to chaos in the blink of an eye. One aspect that really struck me is the role of campus security and how prepared they might have felt for an event like this. Were there protocols in place to handle such a sudden outbreak of violence? I understand that the university, as well as local and state authorities, are doing their best to piece everything together, but I hope this also leads to a conversation about improving safety measures at future events. It’s crucial to prevent something like this from happening again, not just at Lincoln, but at other campuses around the country. I truly hope investigators can quickly find those responsible, and justice is served. Meanwhile, Lincoln’s community support system seems strong, highlighted by the pause for healing and expanded counseling services. Let's continue to offer our support from afar and hold them in our thoughts.
