I can't stop thinking about what Nicholas's girlfriend must be going through right now. Witnessing something so traumatic and then hearing the suspect downplay the seriousness of it—“he’s fine, Nick is fine”—must be incredibly distressing. It's hard to imagine how she must feel, trying to make sense of the chaos and shock of that morning. I hope she has a strong support system around her. Does anyone know if there has been any public statement from her or the family? I know we all want to respect their privacy, but I'm hoping they have the help they need during this unimaginably difficult time.
