Has anyone else thought about the role community awareness might have played in the Nassau County serial murders, especially with Gwen Lukes' case? It's really unsettling to think about how little attention these cases seem to have gotten at the time. I know that society often marginalized victims like Gwen, who were involved in sex work, which is just so unjust. It makes me wonder how many people in the community might have known something but either didn’t realize its significance or felt they couldn’t speak up because of stigma. It’s frustrating that these cases didn't receive the urgency they deserved, potentially allowing the killer to continue harming multiple women. It's a stark reminder of the need for greater empathy and vigilance in our neighborhoods. Keeping all the families and friends affected in my thoughts—they deserve answers and justice.
