It's so puzzling how someone can just vanish without a trace. I've been thinking about Sean Kenneth Phelan's case, and I can't help but wonder if his hitchhiking habits played a bigger role than we realize. Back in 1981, hitchhiking was more common and not seen as risky as it is today, but it still had its dangers. Could it be possible that someone he accepted a ride from was connected to his disappearance?
Considering his use of the alias "Sean Getty," maybe he was trying to start fresh somewhere else due to his personal struggles. Maybe someone picked up on his vulnerabilities and took advantage of the situation. Has anyone looked into possible hitchhiking routes he might have taken frequently? Also, are there other cases around the same time frame that could be eerily similar? Would love to hear thoughts from others who might have more info or ideas.
Does anyone have any details on the possibility of Sean Kenneth Phelan using the alias "Sean Getty"? I'm curious if he had reasons for adopting an alias or if any sightings under that name were ever reported. Given that he was last seen at the Six Pence Inn in Tustin, it's hard not to wonder if maybe he was trying to start fresh, considering he was dealing with a lot personally at the time. It seems plausible he might have used a different name while hitchhiking to avoid drawing attention. If anyone has come across anything about the alias or similar sightings, it could be a helpful lead in understanding what happened.
Has anyone else read about the possible alias "Sean Getty" that Sean Phelan might have been using? It's been bugging me because it makes you wonder if he was trying to fully reinvent himself or start fresh somewhere else. Given his personal issues at the time, I wouldn't be surprised if he tried to distance himself from everything he was going through.
What are the odds he had established another life elsewhere under this alias? If he was hitchhiking as often as reported, he could have been anywhere from SoCal to Washington. I'm curious to know if there have been any flyers or outreach attempts using his alias, or if any sightings connected to "Sean Getty" ever surfaced back then. It's such a deep mystery, and it would be interesting to know if more could have been done in terms of searching under this second name.
