I can't stop thinking about the long-lasting impact Manuel's tragic death must have had on his family and friends. I wonder how they coped all these years, knowing justice was never fully served for his specific murder, even though Prieto was executed for other crimes. It must have been frustrating for them, balancing the knowledge that the person responsible for taking Manuel's life faced justice in some way, yet realizing there would be no courtroom acknowledgment specifically for him.
The question I keep circling back to is how did authorities manage the investigation into Manuel's death over the years, particularly before Prieto was linked to it? It seems that identifying the correct suspect must have been incredibly challenging at the time, especially with the limited forensic technology available in 1989. Was there a shift in their focus when DNA evidence began playing a role? It fascinates me how older cases like this can still hinge on developments in DNA testing, changing so much for the families involved.
Sending all my strength to Manuel's loved ones. I hope, even without a trial for Prieto regarding Manuel's case, they found some sense of peace in the eventual conclusion of the broader legal journey.
