I've been following the Kastady Ann Smith case, and something about it sticks with me: her role at the Belton Independent School District. Having worked in a school myself, I know how much administrative assistants do behind the scenes. Kastady was more than someone who just managed paperwork—she was likely a constant in the daily lives of teachers and students. From the accounts I’ve read, she had a way of bringing calm and structure to everyone around her. I can only imagine the void her absence has left in the hearts of those who saw her every day, how the routine tasks she performed must feel now, tinged with the memory of her. It's incredible how people like her become such integral parts of a community. My heart goes out to her family, especially her children. It's comforting to read about the support from the community and Belton ISD in these dark times. If anyone has memories of Kastady they'd like to share, I'd love to hear more about the impact she had.
