I've been following the tragic case of Javante Marquest Stockard, and I just can't stop thinking about the ripple effect his loss has had on his loved ones and the community. It seems like every time something like this happens, it opens old wounds for people who have experienced similar tragedies. I never knew Javante personally, but from what I've read, he was such a bright spirit with a passion for dancing and singing. It's truly devastating to think about the potential that was lost. The part that's been on my mind lately is how the incident initially deemed an accident may have been preventable. Gun safety is something that simply can't be overlooked. How many more young lives must be lost before meaningful changes are made to address this issue? It’s such a painful reminder that life is fragile and that we, as a community, need to do more to protect our youth from violence. Sending thoughts and strength to Javante’s family and friends as they continue to cope with this unimaginable loss. Let’s hope for healing and a future where no one else has to go through what they’ve endured.
