Does anyone else feel deeply for Oscar and Mathew Budsberg? I can't imagine the agony of not knowing what happened to their dad, Ole, after he disappeared. It's truly saddening that they had to endure such uncertainty and silence, with only lingering questions about his fate. Belle Gunness's twisted web is almost impossible to comprehend. The way she manipulated and preyed on lonely men like Ole, promising them love and partnership, only to have them vanish—it's beyond cruel. What stands out to me apart from the loss itself is the way she managed to deceive so many and evade the law. It's hard not to think about how these men, with their hopes and dreams, ended up in such a terrifying situation. We talk a lot about the crimes, but I'm always drawn back to the effect on those left behind. I hope Oscar and Mathew found some peace, even though they never got solid answers. Just such a senseless loss.

Has anyone else here spent time researching Ole Budsberg's case? It's hard not to feel deeply for his sons, Oscar and Mathew. They were left in such a painful limbo, having no idea what happened to their father. I can't even imagine the frustration and anxiety they must have gone through, especially being met with silence and evasive responses when they looked for answers. Belle Gunness was a master manipulator, and it's shocking how she managed to convince so many men to her farm. Budsberg traveled all the way to Indiana with his hard-earned money, likely hoping for a fresh start or companionship, only to meet a tragic end. His story is profoundly unsettling, a stark reminder of how easily someone’s life can be upended by deceit. It's bitterly ironic that Gunness claimed Budsberg went to Oregon—a place that probably sounded so far away that no one would immediately think to verify it. It's like she knew how to spin just enough of a tale to keep suspicions at bay. I wonder if his sons ever pursued that thread, or if the lack of resources back then made it impossible to follow up on. It’s so important we remember these stories not only for the victims but for the loved ones left behind with so many unanswered questions.
