I’ve been reading extensively about the tragic Hassell case, and I can’t stop thinking about how Alton’s life was cut so short at just 21. I keep wondering what kind of future he might have had if fate hadn’t intervened so cruelly. It’s truly chilling to think that the person meant to be a protector in his life was the one who caused such devastation. What really gets to me is how ordinary everything seemed before the truth came out. George Hassell’s attempt to sell everything must have seemed like an ordinary need to relocate, but it’s unnerving how much more was beneath the surface. It’s a stark reminder that sometimes the most sinister plans are hidden in plain sight. Sending strength to anyone connected to this case. Learning about it all these years later, I can’t help but hope that bringing these stories to light helps in remembering the victims and perhaps, in some way, provides a little comfort or understanding to families affected by such horrors. Alton and his family deserved so much better.

I've been diving deep into the Alton Hassell case, and something that really sticks out to me is the way the trial was conducted. It's so surreal to think about how it turned into this public spectacle, almost like entertainment for some. I can't help but feel for the family and the trauma they must have already experienced, only to have their tragedy treated like a sideshow. It's awful to think about the lack of sensitivity and respect during such a painful time. Anyone else find it disturbing how these kinds of trials were handled back in the day? What a lost opportunity for justice to offer some dignity.
