Has anyone looked into the crew's emergency protocols on the Katmai? I know vessels usually have strict safety measures in place, but I’m curious if everything was followed to the letter before the ship went down. Given how experienced Carlos Zabala and Robert Davis were, I find it hard to believe they wouldn’t have done everything possible to stay safe. Also, does anyone know if the weather conditions were unusually harsh in that area of the Bering Sea around the time they went missing? It might help to piece together what happened. If anyone has insights or can find info on the typical weather patterns there, it might give us some clues. Thanks!

I came across an interesting point while digging into the sinking of the Katmai. It seems like Carlos Zabala and Robert Davis had different routes to getting onto the vessel. Carlos was a seasoned crew member with years of experience on similar ships, while Robert was relatively new to the industry, reportedly having only been on a few trips beforehand. I wonder if their level of experience played any role during the incident or if it affected their chances of survival. Anyone else come across similar situations where experience—or lack thereof—proved to be crucial in maritime accidents? Would love to hear more thoughts or insights if anyone has any!
