I’ve been thinking a lot about the courage of Bryan Boone and Suzanne Harrison on that tragic day. It must have been terrifying to encounter someone as dangerous as Jerry Walter McFadden, but I believe they did everything they could to protect each other and Gena. It's hard to wrap my mind around the strength it must have taken to face such a monster. I'm grateful for the efforts of law enforcement and the community back then, but my thoughts are especially with the families who lost these young lives. They deserve lasting respect and remembrance for their bravery—may their souls find peace and their loved ones continue to find the strength to carry on.
I've been diving into some old case files and came across Gena Lee Turner's story. What caught my attention recently was how crucial the brave couple who reported McFadden's attack on them at the lake were to solving this case. Imagine being in their shoes—having survived a near-death experience only to find out later your report helped catch a monstrous serial killer. Their courage in coming forward, despite the trauma they must have been dealing with, helped law enforcement piece together what McFadden had done. It's a chilling reminder of how vital each piece of evidence and every witness account can be in bringing justice. My heart goes out to Gena's family and friends, as well as the families of Bryan Boone and Suzanne Harrison. This isn't just about McFadden's monstrous actions; it's about the resilience of those who stood up against such evil. What a haunting piece of history for a small community like Hawkins, Texas.
I've been thinking a lot about Suzanne Harrison and her family lately. Reading about her unbelievably tragic fate has been heartbreaking, and it's hard to fathom the pain her loved ones must have felt—and still feel. Imagine being only 18, with your whole life ahead of you, and having to endure such terror at the hands of a man like McFadden. Suzanne was robbed of all her potential, of all her dreams. Her family missed out on watching her grow, experience milestones, and live a full life. It's so frustrating knowing how these monsters can strip away everything from their victims. I hope Suzanne’s family found some peace knowing McFadden was eventually brought to justice, but it's just never truly enough, is it? Keeping her family in my thoughts as they continue to navigate life without her.
