I just can't stop thinking about the role of the legal system in this tragic case involving Marie Sisco Varsos. It’s incredibly frustrating to see how someone like Shaun, with such a clear history of violence, could slip through the cracks. Marie did everything she could—filed for divorce, got an order of protection—and yet, that wasn’t enough. How can we say we’ve done enough for domestic violence victims when stories like this happen? The measures that are supposed to protect them clearly aren't quite there yet. Marie's brother, Alex Youn, has been doing all he can to push for change, and I think it’s crucial we all stand behind efforts like his. Domestic violence is a terrifying and dangerous situation to be in, and it’s haunting to think of what might happen if we don’t take steps to improve. It’s heartbreaking for the family who has to deal with the aftermath, knowing these issues are preventable with the right measures in place. Marie's legacy of caring for others should be our fuel to push for better protective laws.
