I've been reading through some old newspaper articles about the tragic death of Deputy Constable George W. McCammon, and one detail that stands out is his bravery in the face of danger. It's incredible to think about how, despite being armed only with a nightstick, McCammon crossed the street toward someone he knew was a threat. He didn't hesitate to do his duty, knowing full well the risks involved. In today's world, we often debate the actions of law enforcement, but let’s not forget the courage displayed by officers like McCammon, who put their lives on the line to uphold the law and protect their communities. It's so sad to see how his life was cut short by violence, and my heart goes out to his wife and everyone who knew him. His commitment and sacrifice should never be forgotten.
