Has anyone else been following the appeals process in the Commonwealth v. Freeman case? I've been reading up on Oliver Freeman's attempts at Post Conviction Relief and it seems like his efforts have been consistently denied. It makes me think about the complexities of the justice system and how daunting it must be for the victim’s family to go through the legal process repeatedly. It’s such a difficult situation for George Schroeder’s loved ones to continually revisit the tragic loss of someone so young. I'm always curious about what drives people to appeal, especially when there's a guilty plea on record. Does anyone with legal knowledge know the possible motivations or if there are any successful outcomes in cases like these?
Does anyone else find the location aspect of this case super chilling? It's just so unsettling to think about how many people could have been in that area, completely unaware of the violence that was about to unfold. 10th and Booth Streets, once just another corner in Chester, PA, is now marked by this terrible event. It’s a place that could be right in any of our neighborhoods, where someone thought they were just making a quick transaction and instead lost their life. I've read that drug deals often happen in public spaces like that because they're supposedly "safer" with people around. It's alarming and sad to think that trying to feel safe in such a risky situation didn't save poor George Schroeder. My thoughts are definitely with his friends and family during this difficult time. It makes me wonder how many other locations out there have a hidden, tragic story behind them.
