Has anyone been following the case of Carol Ashcom? I can't stop thinking about the impact her role as a confidential informant had on sealing her fate. It's so disturbing that Shakir Mosi Smith could orchestrate something so heinous from behind bars. The fact that Carol was willing to assist law enforcement despite the risks says so much about her character and bravery. She clearly wanted to make her community a safer place, and she deserved far better than what happened to her. My heart goes out to her family, especially her young son, who had to endure such a terrible loss. It's crucial for the system to do more to protect people like Carol who put themselves on the line.
