I just can't stop thinking about Joaquim's classmates and the difficult conversations they must have had at school. It's so hard to imagine explaining something so tragic to other young kids who probably don't fully understand why something like this happens. I hope the school has counselors available and is providing the support those young students need. It's important that we remember to also extend our empathy and support to all those indirectly affected, such as the kids in Joaquim's school. Such a sad situation all around.

I've been thinking a lot about the aftermath of this tragedy, particularly the community response after Joaquim and his mother, Nightflower, were taken from us. From what I read, the vigil held outside their apartment was such a powerful moment. It seems like it served as a way for people to not only grieve but also come together in solidarity against the silent threat of domestic violence that lurks in so many communities. I can't even begin to imagine the pain their family and friends are enduring. It's truly commendable how the community rallied to honor their memories and, more importantly, to start conversations about preventing future tragedies. Did anyone here attend the vigil or know more about other initiatives they've launched since then? I hope these efforts continue to grow and bring about real change. It just feels like it's what Nightflower and Joaquim deserved—a legacy of hope and safety for others in similar situations.

I was reading up on the Middletown case, and I can't stop thinking about little Joaquim Cadell's school life. I wonder if there were any signs at school that things might have been off at home. Kids sometimes say or do things that might hint at trouble, but adults don't always connect the dots until it's too late. I can't imagine how tough it must have been for any teachers or staff who knew him. Nobody should have to go through something like this, especially a child with his whole life ahead of him. I hope this tragic event serves as a reminder for educators everywhere to stay vigilant and provide a safe space for kids to speak up. Thoughts with Joaquim's friends and family during this unimaginably difficult time.
