Hey everyone, just wanted to add something to the conversation about Herbert Morris’s case. I've been looking into the general crime situation in Detroit during 2010, and it's really striking how many cases like Herbert's went cold because of strained resources. It seems like the police were overwhelmed and couldn't keep up with the sheer number of incidents happening across the city. It's a painful reminder of how many families—not just Herbert’s—were left without answers.
I can't imagine what Bessie Morris must have gone through, trying to navigate life after such a sudden and tragic loss without any closure. It's clear that Herbert was a cherished part of his community and a dearly loved family man. Just wishing there was more we could do to support families like the Morris's who are left dealing with unimaginable grief without justice. If anyone has thoughts on community efforts or ways to advocate for reopening cold cases, I’d love to hear them. ??
I've been doing some research into the unsolved cases in Detroit, and Herbert Morris’s case really caught my eye. It's just so sad to see how many lives have been impacted by violence during that time. I was particularly struck by some of his friends' accounts of how supportive and kind he was. It’s terrible to think that a life filled with potential and love was cut short so abruptly.
What stands out to me is the apparent lack of resources that were available to fully investigate cases like Herbert's back then. It seems like so many families were left waiting for answers that never came. How are they supposed to find closure when there’s this persistent cloud of uncertainty?
Has there been any movement on reallocating resources or bringing more attention to these cold cases? I feel for Bessie and others who are still searching for justice. It would be amazing if reopening some of these investigations could shed light on what happened and bring peace to these families.
I've been thinking a lot about Herbert Morris's case and how it underscores the broader issues with how some communities struggle to manage crime rates effectively. It's so frustrating and sad that Herbert's tragic death seems to have been wrapped up in the larger context of Detroit's challenges in 2010. From what I've gathered, his case unfortunately got lost among many others during a particularly violent year, which makes me wonder about the resources that were—and maybe still aren't—available to law enforcement to adequately investigate each case. It's really upsetting to think how many families, like Herbert's, have to endure such immense grief without the closure that comes from justice being served. My heart goes out to Bessie and everyone affected. It must add so much anguish knowing that answers might never come. Surely there must be more that can be done to support families and get these cases resolved? Thoughts?
