Hey everyone, I’ve been reading about the tragic case of Antoine Smith and it breaks my heart to think about how many families are stuck waiting for answers that may never come. My thoughts go out to Antoine’s loved ones. I can’t even imagine the pain they must feel, year after year, with no resolution in sight. I was particularly interested in the initiative to launch a cold case webpage back in 2019. I think it’s a step in the right direction, showing that the DPD is at least trying to find new ways to connect with the community. Sometimes, it feels like the constraints on resources and ongoing violence in the city create an impossible situation for the detectives working these cases. Has anyone seen if this webpage has been effective in solving any other cold cases around Detroit? It seems like such a great tool for public engagement, but I wonder if it has the reach or visibility needed to make a real impact. Let’s hope it brings some much-needed attention to cases like Antoine’s. Sending positive thoughts to the families and kudos to those advocating for justice in Detroit. Every effort counts!
