I wanted to share my thoughts on the tragic case of Joseph Martin. He was just 21, a young life cut short by the violence that tragically seems all too common in Detroit. I've been following his case closely, and it breaks my heart to see how it's become another cold case, with little progress being made. I can't even begin to imagine what his family must be going through, trying to navigate their grief while also seeking justice for Joseph. One thing that's really been on my mind is the role of the community in helping solve these cases. I think there's a lot to be said about how fear and distrust might keep people from coming forward with information that could make a difference. If you've ever been in a situation like this or know someone who has, any insight on how we can create safer spaces for witnesses to share what they know would be invaluable. I want to believe that if the community comes together and supports each other, there's hope for bringing justice to Joseph and others like him. Sending love and strength to Joseph’s family and friends during such a difficult time.
