Hey everyone, I've been thinking a lot about Richard Lanier's case and it's really been on my mind how many of these tragic stories from Detroit around 2011 just drift away into the ether without any closure. It’s striking—and troubling—how many cases like Richard’s remain unsolved, and it got me wondering about how the community during that time might have felt. Did anyone here live in Detroit around then? How did it feel to be part of a community grappling with so much violence? From what I've gathered, there was such a significant effort to bridge gaps between law enforcement and the residents. I’ve also read about initiatives that tried to foster cooperation to tackle the rampant crime. I just can’t stop thinking about what it meant for the families who were left in the dark, hoping for answers that never seem to come. It seems that the efforts were there, but so many families like Richard’s still wait for justice. Does anyone have insights on what more could have been done back then or any stories of hope arising from such circumstances? Stay safe, and let’s keep these stories alive. Peace, Alex
