I was reading about George Herd's tragic case and couldn't help but feel for his family who, after more than a decade, still doesn't have the answers they deserve. It got me thinking about how difficult it must be for families to maintain hope over the years when faced with the daunting statistics around unsolved murders in Detroit. What's particularly distressing is the reported lack of resources for the Cold Case Unit. It seems like they’re doing everything they can, yet they’re up against an overwhelming backlog. I feel like community support could be crucial in making it a priority for more funding and resources. Maybe more public awareness could lead to some pressure that results in real changes? Also, are there any local initiatives or community groups that are working alongside the Cold Case Unit to bring more focus to this issue? I'd love to know how folks can get involved or if there's any way to support victims' families going through such a relentless struggle for justice.
