I was reading about the tragic case of Darquena Colvin and couldn't help but think about the impact on her family. I can’t even begin to imagine the pain they must be enduring, knowing that her case, like so many others in Detroit that year, might never see justice. It's absolutely devastating to think about the challenges faced by the community as they try to bring attention and closure to these cases. The lack of witness cooperation seems to be such a pervasive issue, but it’s difficult to blame anyone when fear can be so paralyzing. I wonder what can be done to encourage more people to come forward, maybe some form of community protection or anonymous tips could make a difference? It's frustrating and so, so sad. My heart goes out to her family and everyone who has suffered from the violence during that time.
