I’ve been following the investigation of the tragic incident that took Dushawn Sweeney and young Izaiah Cooper’s lives, and I keep thinking about what a close-knit place West Blvd is. From what I understand, folks in that apartment complex probably knew each other pretty well. I can’t help but wonder how something so devastating could happen in a community where neighbors look out for one another. Izaiah was just a kid, only 17, with a whole life ahead of him that’s now gone just like that. And Dushawn, at 41, should have had many years left with family and friends who surely miss him. It’s so important for those who might have seen or heard anything to come forward. The reward is there, but more importantly, it's a chance to honor their memories by helping to catch those responsible. Keeping their families in my thoughts and hoping justice is swiftly served.
