I'm still trying to wrap my head around the devastating loss of Zyrique Grace and Nakoya Maynor. It's so hard to understand how a young person with their whole life ahead of them can be taken so suddenly. What really stood out to me was the familial connection in this tragedy. Seeing Ronald Maynor, Nakoya's grandfather, speak so openly about his pain was incredibly moving. It reminds us all of the real, personal impact these senseless acts of violence have on families. The way he highlighted the dangers young people face today makes you think about what more can be done to protect our communities from this type of violence. My heart goes out to all those who are affected and I hope that justice is served swiftly. As a community, we need to come together to ensure something like this doesn't keep happening.
