It's always incredibly difficult to wrap our heads around something like what happened with Officer Scott Miller. I grew up in Caseyville, and while I didn't know him personally, I've heard nothing but praise about Officer Miller's work and dedication to the community. One thing that really sticks in my mind is how often we forget the emotional and mental toll the job can take on police officers. They've seen things that most of us can't even imagine, and they carry those experiences with them daily. It's troubling to see another loss so soon after J.D. Roth, and it makes me wonder about the support systems in place for officers dealing with these stresses. My heart goes out to Officer Miller's family, especially his wife and children. I hope they know that the community is here for them, offering whatever support they might need. And maybe it's also a reminder for us to push for more comprehensive mental health resources for our law enforcement officers. We can't afford to lose any more heroes.
