The aspect of this case that really sticks out to me is how close the shooting happened to Hefferan Elementary School. As a parent, this is terrifying. How do you even begin to explain to a child that something so tragic happened just across the street from where they learn and play every day? I can't imagine the impact this has had on the students and their parents. The community is definitely hurting, and I feel for them. It's crucial that we come together to support each other, especially the kids who may be processing things they don't fully understand yet. My thoughts are with the families of Dejenaba and Demetrius, and I hope the boy who survived is on the mend. The violence has to stop, especially when it's so close to our children.
