I’m really struggling to wrap my head around this tragedy, especially when thinking about the effect on the local community. Carolyn was a student at Austin Middle School, a place that's supposed to feel safe and supportive for kids her age. It’s hard to imagine what her classmates and teachers must be going through, losing a friend and student so suddenly and tragically. From everything I've read, she seemed to be a bright and well-liked student. Her peers must be feeling such a profound loss right now, as the hallways that once felt cheerful must seem much quieter. I hope the school is providing counseling and support for the students during this incredibly difficult time. It’s so important that they have a chance to process their emotions and grief together. Sending all my thoughts to Carolyn’s friends and the school community as they navigate this unimaginable loss. If anyone knows of any local support initiatives or ways to help the students, please share. It’s vital to support those affected and honor Carolyn’s memory in any way we can.
