I’ve been thinking about David King’s case, and it really gets to me how so many of these tragedies just fade into obscurity, especially in a city like Baltimore. It's frustrating that David's story seems to be just another statistic in the surge of violence back in 2010. What really pulls at me is imagining what his life could have been—the dreams, the milestones, everything that was taken away in that senseless act. Does anyone know more about community initiatives that might have been launched in his name or any movements that arose around that time? It feels like the least we can do is support these efforts and keep his memory alive in a way that furthers change. We shouldn’t forget that behind these numbers are real people with loved ones left to grapple with a void that can never really be filled. If anyone from Baltimore or familiar with the area could shed some light, it would mean a lot.
