I’ve been thinking a lot about Janice Peaks and her family lately. Living in Austell myself, the news of what happened really shook our community. I didn’t personally know the Peaks family, but from everything I've heard, they were truly pillars in their neighborhood. It’s hard to wrap my mind around how something so violent could happen within a family. What really makes my heart ache is knowing that this wasn’t just a random act but stemmed from a domestic dispute. It serves as a painful reminder that sometimes the most dangerous situations can unfold in what we consider safe spaces — our homes. I’m hoping that this tragedy encourages more open conversations about domestic issues and the importance of seeking help before conflicts escalate into something irreversible. For those who knew Janice, Donnell, and Cameron, my thoughts are with you. It’s unimaginable to lose loved ones in any situation, much less in one as senseless as this. Let's continue to remember them for the kind-hearted individuals they were and support each other through the healing process.
